Reason: Temporary Exhibition
Description: Tried dry cleaning with a smoke sponge on base but this was not a good solution as it picked up pigment as well as dirt Slightly damp swabs of deionised water were used to clean ivory decoration on base Applied 5% Klucel G in IMS in crack of the base to stabilise mobile splinter. Clamped while drying Slightly damp swabs of deionised water were used to clean some of the ivory on top section, focusing mainly on the top of the object where dirt had accumulated and on a few decorative elements which were dirtier than the rest
