Treatment; 30 June 2019; Stablise unstable crack on the rim and the neck. Fill the chip on the rim.; Ceramics & Glass

Reason: Temporary Exhibition
Description: The cracks were consolidated using 10% w/v Paraloid b72 in acetone applied with micropipette. The chip were filled with a detachable plaster fill. The shape of the fill was moulded using dental wax. The dental wax was heated up using hot air blower to improve the flexibility and mouldability. The orginal surface of the object was covered using a layer of aluminium foil and a layer of cling film. After the plaster set, the surface was skimmed with Flugger to achieve a desirable finishing. Then a layer of 10% w/v Paraloid B72 in acetone were applied to the plaster fill. Then attached the fill to the chip using 40% w/v Paraloid B72 in acetone. The gaps between the fill and the break edge were filled using microballoons mixed with 30% w/v Paraloid B72 in acetone. The surface were then retouched with Golden acrylic paint mixed with Graphite powder, Iriodin 100 Silver pearl and pale gold lustre powder. Once dried the surface was polished using micromesh and then buffed with dry cottonh swab.
