Reason: Storage
Description: Whole paper - Dirty and discoloured - Washed for 30 mins in lukewarm water and for 2 hours in four successive baths of hot water. Edges, verso - Strips of paper present - Removed while paper still wet after the above washing process. Old adhesive present - Most removed with a scalpel while still swollen after the above washing process. The remainder removed by immersing in hot water for another 15 minutes and stroking gently with a finger. Bottom, right corner verso - pH reading taken using a meter with surface electrodes = pH6.6 Whole - Acidic - Buffered by immersion in a saturated solution of Calcium Hydroxide. Bottom, right corner verso - pH reading re-taken pH7.0(see above) Whole paper - still acidic - Re-buffered (see above) Bottom, right corner verso - pH reading re-taken pH7.5 (see above). Whole paper - cockled - Sprayed with deionised water and gently pressed with blotting paper template.
