Henry Aldrich

Biography: Born Westminster, spent his life at Oxford where he was first Canon and then Dean of Christ Church, from 1689. Print collector, essayist, poet musician and composer. He designed an impressive set of engravings in the classical tradition for the 'Oxford Almanac', which was published annually by Oxford University Press. His collection of around 2000 prints, many still in their original albums, together with a set of proof impressions of the Oxford Almanac engravings are kept in Christ Church library.
