Biography: Watchmaker, born in Les Ponts. He studied Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics with Mathurin Bresson in Le Locle. Between 1831 and 1834 he lived and worked in London making watches for Benjamin Lewis Vulliamy. He then returned to Le Locle where he set up a workshop making very high grade watches to his own designs. He invented a double-stem winding system. Spent five years in London pre 1840. Precision watches and chronometers. Invented keyless mechanism for watches with two barrels.
