- Printseller, publisher and Lord Mayor. 1840 appointed Goupil agent in London; 1842 set up on his own in partnership with Junin. Naturalised 1846. From 1848 began dealing in paintings as well, proprietor of the French Gallery, London; retired 1870. His business successors were Pilgeram and Lefèvre (q.v.).
