- Biography
- Collector and connoisseur of mainly classical antiquities. Collection purchased by BM in 1805 (classical sculpture) and 1814 (other antiquities, sold by his cousin and heir Peregrine Towneley (sic) (q.v.). His print collection passed to John Towneley and was included in his sale, Sotheby's 10-11.v.1865.
