The Tarrytown Group

Biography: A group of Apulian red-figure vase-painters whose names are unknown. Trendall called them the Tarrytown Group naming them after a pelike at Tarrytown, New York. They were closely associated with the Underworld Painter (q.v.) and mostly decorated pelikai, usually with three figures on the obverse and two on the reverse. Many vases have been attributed to this group on the basis of style.
