Biography: Group of Apulian red-figure vase painters whose names are unknown. Nevertheless, consistent characteristics of style suggest a coherent group of artists. The group has been called the Group of Karlsruhe 66/140 having been named after a plate decorated with fishes in Karlsruhe. The plates are usually decorated with three large fish with much use of added white, especially on the underbellies. On the basis of style, many vases have been attributed to the group (which may actually have consisted of only one painter).
