Biography: Athenian black-figure vase-painter whose name is unknown. Nevertheless consistent individual characteristics of style suggest the existence of a unique artistic personality. Beazley (following Haspels) called him the Emporion Painter naming him after the find-spot (Ampurias in Spain) of several examples of his work. A number of other vases have been attributed to his hand on the basis of style.
