The Concentric Circle Group

Biography: Group of Athenian vase-painters working during the Late Geometric Period whose names are unknown. They are named after their decorative use of concentric circles, a motif foreign to Athenian tradition, the inspiration for which probably came from Cyprus where concentric circles had long been popular. Many vases have been attributed to the group on the basis of style.
