Life dates: 1814-1876
Biography: Etcher, painter of historical subjects, also draughtsman on wood of animal subjects. Born in Frankfurt, worked in Dusseldorf and settled in London about 1850 where he drew on wood for numerous books and magazines. The BM owns several proof engravings of his designs engraved on wood by the Dalziel Brothers, 1860-66.
