- Painter. The BM holds over 100 drawings and watercolours by Turner, including 60 bequeathed by Robert Wylie Lloyd in 1958. There are more than 400 impressions of prints by Turner in the collection, and more than 2,000 prints after his work. Most of the latter are stored in a series of boxes and portfolios arranged according to Rawlinson's catalogue numbers; photographic reproductions of some works are kept in the final portfolio, but not entered on the computer database.
A copy of Turner's will is in P&D, Press mark Ee.1.24/2.
Drawings and watercolours from the Turner Bequest were housed at the BM from 1931-1987 when they were moved to the Tate; they are identified by the letters 'TB' and a number in roman numerals.
