- Biography
- Draughtsman, lithographer, actor and writer. His birth date is often given wrongly as 1805. Pupil of Girodet for a short time, he entered the studio of Gros. He published caricatures in 'Moeurs Parisiennes' and 'Moeurs Administratives' between 1826 and 1828. His works satirize social types and Parisian bourgeoisie. He usually executed pen lithographs in an open manner and supervised the addition of watercolour washes. After the July Monarchy he contributed to different popular series, including 'Les Francais peints par eux-memes' and 'Physiologie du Bourgeois'.
