- Painter, draughtsman, engraver and antiquarian. Andrea Mantegna, b. 1431 Isola di Carturo, d. at Mantua, 13 Sept. 1506. Trained under Squarcione in Padua; Ovetari Chapel in 1459; to Mantua as court painter in 1460, where remained until his death.
