Born in Coire, Switzerland, daughter of Joseph Johann Kauffmann; Raised in Switzerland and Italy; In Italy 1754-7 and 1760-6; Studied in Florence 1762, Rome 1763, and Zurich 1764; Acquainted with Dance; Exhibited FS 1765-66; Settled in London 1766; Exh. SA 1768 and RA 1769-97; Executed decorative painting for Robert Adam, Stuart and others; Married Antonio Zucchi 1781 and moved first to Venice 1781, then to Rome 1782, where she remained and ran a salon; Kept an incomplete list of her works, later published in Lady Victoria Manners and G.C. Williamson 1824; Many decorative prints by Bartolozzi and others made after her designs; Died in Rome.
