- Fine art dealers and framers; John Vokins 1812-1836, sons John & William Vokins 1837-1910 (John Henry Vokins d. 1878 but business continued as J & W Vokins under William, Arthur and James Theodore). Carvers and gilders, picture framemakers, dealers in works of art.
At one time (late 19th C) the paper labels affixed to their frames read 'J & W Vokins/Carvers, Gilders etc/By Appointment to/HRH The Prince of Wales/14 & 16 Great Portland Street/London'; according to 'The Times' they were recorded as picture buyers from 1861 onwards (in reports of auction results).
