- Biography
- Painter, lithographer; born near Accrington, Lancashire; attended Liverpool School of Art, 1940-2, and returned there to complete his studies, 1946-7, after serving in the navy during WWII; taught at Exeter College of Art from 1947, becoming principal, 1958-84; member of the Newlyn Society, 1952-83, and exhibited with the Penwith Society during the 1950s and 60s, with a solo exhibition there in 1983; exhibited widely including: the Royal Academy, St Georges Gallery, Dartington Hall, Exeter University, Austin Desmond Fine Art and Bruton Street Gallery; married the painter Patricia Fishwick (born 1929) and they lived in Topsham, Devon. Memorial exhibitions were mounted by Exeter and Plymouth Universities in 1998, they also hold examples of his work.
