- Biography
- The Swedish Fine Art Print Society (Föreningen för Grafisk Konst), founded in 1887, publishes an annual portfolio of between 4-6 prints by artists working in Sweden, which is received by subscribers to the Society. The BM has a complete collection of 41 portfolios containing 205 prints issued between 1955 and 1995, presented by a former Secretary to the Society and Director of the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Per Bjurström, from his personal collection. Not all the portfolios are intact, but the vast majority of their contents (namely, 176 prints) are included. Each portfolio lists on the front cover the artist, title and print technique for the works it contains.
In addition, the F.f.G.K has made the British Museum an honorary member. The gift of the portfolio for 1997 marked the start of the Museum's honorary membership. The two gifts were made in recognition of Campbell Dodgson's personal subscription to the Society from the early part of this century until his death in 1948, and of the Museum's interest in building upon Dodgson's bequest to further the Scandinavian holdings (see F. Carey, "Modern Scandinavian Prints", BMP, 1997).
