Biography: Scholarly dealer in books and broadsides; b. Frankfurt, fled Germany when Hitler rose to power, and settled in London in 1937. Sold to Campbell Dodgson in 1930-2 while in Frankfurt. In London acted as an agent/adviser to many collectors, including Bernard Brenninkmeijer (founder of the Liberna collection). Known as ‘Mister Ten Percent’, as that is what he charged for works bought through his expertise. Friend of a fellow Frankfurt refugee, Edmund Schilling (qv). Buried at Enfield cemetery 4 December, 1972.
