Biography: Photograph of his trade card in Heal Collection (Heal,111.42) advertises "At the Golden Turks Head...Are Sold All sorts of Blank Bonds, Writs, Warrants, Licences [sic] and other useful Blanks. Steell [sic] Pens, Ink Bottles or any other Stationary [sic] Wares. Deeds or other Writings fairly Engrossed or Copyed [sic]. Also the Best Ink for Records made & Sold by Chr Coningsby." Heal's annotations on mount: "Original in the Bagford Bills. Hilton Price's 'Signs of Fleet Street' gives him at this address in 1692. Published Joseph Nutting's writing book 'The Country School Master' (N.D.) c.1695. This advertisement plate occurs prefaced to William Elder's 'The Modish Penman' (moderate). See copy in V & A. Chr. Coningsby was at the Golden Key in Fleet Street 1687. Chr. Coningsby was at the Ink Bottle against Clifford's Inn Gate in Fetter Lane, Fleet St. 1711. Chr. Coningsby was at the Golden Turk's Head & Ink Bottle near St. Dunstan's Church. Chr. Coningsby was in Fleet Street 1701 (see title p. of Ed: Hatton's 'Merchants Magazine'."
