Biography: Physician and pharmacist; supplied medicines and cabinets; author of "The medical guide, for the use of the clergy, heads of families, and practitioners in medicine and surgery" (1802, and later editions); consulted by Joanna Southcott, then aged sixty-four, as to the possibility of her supernatural pregnancy. Bill-head in Banks Collection (Banks,35.63) states "Bought of Reece & Co.... Prescriptions carefully compounded. Chemical Reagents [sic] for Analysis & Philosophical Experiments. Medicine Chests of various descriptions Adapted to all Climates. Chemical and Mineralogical Chests &c." Presrcription card in Banks Collection states "Prescription, From Reece's Medical & Chemical Hall, Piccadilly. Prescriptions most carefully compounded." A medical chest from Reece’s Medical Hall, dated to c. 1805 and very similar to that shown on the trade-card, is in the Wellcome Collection
