- Biography
- Artist, born Jerusalem, Palestine, 1961. Graduated with a degree in fine art and architecture from the University of Texas (Arlington) and lived in the United States for more than a decade. After returning to Ramallah, initially practised architecture before concentrating solely on art. Participated in a number of international group exhibitions in France, Italy, Belgium, England, Greece, Germany and Switzerland, as well as several biennials, including the twenty-fourth São Paulo Biennial, the eleventh Sydney Biennial, the first Kwangju Biennial and the ninth Istanbul Biennial. Numerous international solo shows and various artist-in-residence programmes in Europe. Taught architecture at Birzeit University, Palestine, and fine arts at Bezalel Academy, Jerusalem. Founder of the Palestinian Museum of Natural History and Humankind and co-founder of Al-Ma‘mal Foundation for Contemporary Art in Jerusalem and ArtSchool Palestine in London. Director of the Second Riwaq Biennial of art, architecture and design, Palestine (October 2007). Based in Ramallah, Palestine.
