Biography: The Anglo Celtic Watch Company was established in August 1946 when a new factory, The Gurnos Works, was opened on a site owned by the then Board of Trade.. It was owned jointly by S.Smith & Sons (later Smiths Industries), Vickers Armstrong and Ingersoll Ltd. Vickers Armstrong dropped out in 1948 and Smiths and Ingersoll jointly owned the company until 1968/9 when Smiths took total control. It continued manufacturing wristlet watches until 1972 and pocket watches and their variants until 1980 when all production ceased and the machinery was sold.
