- Painter, draughtsman and graphic designer. Born in 1552 Cologne, in Venice 1574-5, from c. 1577 in Rome, and Florence and Venice 1584-5; from c.1587 in Munich working for Dukes of Bavaria and the Fuggers; in 1592 appointed imperial court painter to Rudolph II and moved to Prague in 1596, held same position under Matthias from 1612; died in Prague 1615.
