- Biography
- Artist, born Tehran, Iran, 1948. Moved to Britain in1959 and studied medicine at London University (1968-73). She worked as a doctor until 1984, when she received her BA in Fine Arts from St Martin's School of Art, London. Moved to Scotland in 1990, and became a member of the Glasgow Print Studio and visiting lecturer at the Glasgow School of Art (1995 to 2002). In 2003-4, she was named a Visiting scholar at New Hall, Cambridge, researching Islamic figural calligraphy with an award from the Arts and Humanities Research Board. Her paintings and monoprints have been exhibited in the UK. Using calligraphy, she produced ten shaped- poems from her own translation of the poems of Hafez, Iran’s premier lyric poet.
