Biography: Habibullah Kalakani [q.v.], a Tadjik brigand, was born in the 1890s in the Kohistan area north of Kabul, Afghanistan. In January 1929 he drove King Amanullah Khan from the throne and established himself as ruler, abolishing reforms established by the King. He was driven himself from the throne in November 1929 by Nadir Shah, later King, and executed.
