Biography: Privy Councillor, historian, author and collector of books. In 1740, he founded a private library, one of the largest at the time in Nöthnitz castle; the librarian was Johann Michael Francke, who invented a new indexing system for libraries; Winckelmann (q.v.) worked there from 1748 to 1754; author of numerous letters to Goethe (q.v.).
