- CMG. British Consul serving in Resht, Iran; donated a collection of some sixty bronzes of various periods which had been acquired at Qazvin to the British Museum in 1909. He also served as the British Consul-General in Cairo. Probably the father of one Miss Adelaide Rabino who offered a series of Persian drawings to the British Museum in 1955.
Wrote historical works on the Middle East, including many articles published in the 'Numismatic Chronicle' between 1908-50. Author of a paper entitled "The Coins of the Shahs of Persia" which was published in 'The Numismatic Chronicle' 8 (1908), subsequently expanded into a monograph entitled 'Coins, medals, and seals of the Shâhs of Îrân, 1500-1941' (1945). He published several articles about northern Iran, including "A journey in Mazanderan (from Resht to Sari)", 'Geographical Journal' 42 (1913), "Les anciens sports au Gilan", 'RMM' 26, 97-112 (1914), "Les provinces caspiennes de la Perse. Le Guilan", 'Revue du Monde Musulman' 37 (1916) and "Rulers of Gilan", 'Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society' (1920), plus a book entitled 'Mazanderan and Astarabad' (London 1928). He was posthumously awarded the medal of the Royal Numismatic Society q.v. in 1951.
