Biography: Daughter of king Orchamus by Eurynome; loved by Apollo (q.v.), who first disguised himself as the young woman's mother to approach her; betrayed by her sister and rival in love Clytia, Leucothoe was buried alive by order of her father. She was transformed into a incense shrub (Ovid, Metamorphoses, IV).
