- Biography
- Anglican missionary organization; formed in 1701 by Revd. Dr Thomas Bray and Henry Compton, Bishop of London as the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts; became USPG in 1965 on its merger with Universities' Mission to Central Africa; in 1968 joined by the Cambridge Mission to Delhi; November 2012 changed name to United Society. Initially created in response to the state of the Church of England in the American colonies. SPG quickly expanded their domain and sent missionaries to the West Indies, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, West Africa, India, South Africa, China and Japan.
