- Biography
- Born in Milan. Managing Director of an Italian company in India, based in Calcutta, then in Kathmandu. Made frequent visits to Nepal during the 1960s, where he met and befriended Bhupendra Narayan Sherestha (1943-2012), the greatest Nepalese connoisseur of Himalayan coins. Valdettaro was one of the first Europeans to collect Nepalese coins in Nepal. Member of the Italian Numismatic Society from 1963 to 1988. Died in Lugano. Bequeathed his coin collection to the British Museum (reg no. beginning 1989,0904).
