- Biography
- Engineer, numismatist. Born 28th July 1898 at Abu, Rajasthan, India. Attended the Philandir Smith College, Nainital; also the Crystal Palace School of Engineering, London. In 1924 he joined the South Indian Railway as Assistant Engineer, and became Deputy General Manager of the SIR in 1951. Member of the Numismatic Society of India from 1934. After his retirement to England in 1966, he devoted himself to numismatics, and published papers in the Journal of the NSI, and books including Coins of the Pandyas and Coins of the Cholas. The British Museum acquired his collection of over 1,600 coins in 1970. Husband of Mrs Charles Hubert Biddulph (q.v.), and buried with her in Wandsworth Cemetery.
