Description: The object was first cleaned with White Spirit (composition variable - petroleum distillate) and later in Acetone (propan-1-one/dimethyl ketone). These solvents, applied on cotton swabs, were effective at removing the tarnish. The areas with the most tarnished were cleaned using Silvo (cotton wadding, white spirit, Newburgh chalk, china clay) and degreased with acetone. The object was cleaned on all sides except that which had its registration number.
