Description
Consolidated loose areas with 5-20% Paraloid B72 (ethyl methacrylate copolymer) in 50:50 Acetone (propan-1-one/dimethyl ketone): Industrial methylated spirits (ethanol, methanol), applied with a glass micro-pipette. Removed excess adhesive with Acetone applied on a soft brush and a watchmaker's puffer to reduce the staining of the consolidant. Reapplied consolidant several times until the loose areas were stable. Used tweezers under magnification to remove most of the loose fibres, many were well adhered to the surface of the tablet to remove and were often left on the surface. Placed loose flakes that were at the bottom of the box into a labelled plastic bag. Removed cotton wool from storage box and replaced with plastazote foam.
