Description: All 3 prints surface cleaned with grated Staedtler Mars Plastic eraser, tears cleaned with shaped eraser pieces. Washed in separate trays in cold water for 1h (water changed twice), washed in warm water for 1h (water changed twice). Considerable lightening of orange blotches (128 and 137), making light bleaching unneccessary. Some overall lightening of tone (364) but edges too brittle to expose print to light bleaching treatment. Tears repaired with Japanese tissue and wheat starch paste. 1868-0612-364 brittle edges reinforced with Japanese tissue on verso. Humidified over capillary matting and Gore-Tex in a chamber. Pressed between blotters (128 and 137) or felts (364). Mounted into an overthrow Royal mount using Heritage conservation board and hinged to backboard using japanese paper hinges and Culminal (non-ionic cellulose ether).
