- Description
- The object was first solvent cleaned with White Spirit (composition variable - petroleum distillate) and later in Acetone (propan-1-one/dimethyl ketone). These solvents along with the action of mechanically cleaning were ineffective at removing tarnish. The object was then recleaned with Silvo (cotton wadding, white spirit, Newburg charlk, china clay) and degreased with White Spirit (composition variable - petroleum distillate) followed by Acetone (propan-1-one/dimethyl ketone). The object was cleaned on all sides except that which had its registration number.
The following objects were also treated. Their individual treatments histories, however, could not be recorded onto Merlin as no registration numbers had been created for them. They are identifiable only by the A numbers written on them. For the purpose of recording which object have been treated, each A number is listed below. In those instances where a number is missing, or partially erased), a dash has been placed to signifiy that the object has more than one number. I was unable to find out the origin of these A numbers and whether they were short cuts for the Cuerdale reg. number system.
