Treatment; 17 Feb 2009; Dismantle and restick knob.; Ceramics & Glass

Reason: Permanent Exhibition
Description: The knob was poulticed with acetone applied to cotton wool and covered with cling film to slow down evaporation. As this appeared to do very little, Nitromors was applied to the area and covered with foil to slow down evaporation. This was then carefully cleaned with distilled water swabs and then steam cleaned. The fragments have been reconstructed with Paraloid B72 (ethyl methacrylate copolymer) 40% in acetone applied to the break edges with a brush. Joins supported with sellotape during curing.
