Reason: Storage
Description: The excess adhesive and the registration number were removed using Acetone applied with a bristle brush or paint brush and tussue paper. The epoxy resin around the break edges was removed mechanically under the microscope using hand tools. The flint was removed with air-abrasive using Aluminium oxide, No1 powder. The break was repaired using Paraloid B72 (ethyl methacrylate copolymer) as adhesive and mixed with Microballoons (silica or phenolic resin) as filler. The infilling was left white to indicate the weakness of the blade and because the object is not being intended for display. The sword was renumbered using acrylic white.
