Treatment; 25 Jul 2005; Remove and investigate the makeup between the two fragments (1929 10-16 167 & 1927 10-16 202). The fill between the two fragments should be recessed and retouched to match the surrounding stone. Investigate the consolident that has been used on the lower fragment, this has caused the stone to darken comparative to the upper fragment. Fill and cap the laminations to the surface of the stone, take care not to mask any of the text when filling. Remove the white material on the surface (modern paint/plaster) from the upper fragment. Remove the number from the front of the stela and put on the side of the object.; Stone, Wall Paintings, Mosaics

Description: The surace was given a light careful clean with Wishab sponge. The consolidated lower fragment did not respond to any of the cleaning tests and so was left. The fill between the two fragments of the stela was carefully removed and reduced using a scalpel, any gaps were filled with an inert acrylic paste (Flugger) and then retouched with acrylics to match the surrounding stone. The laminations were filled also with Flugger and retouched with acrylics. The white residue on the surface of the upper fragment was removed with dichloromethane (Nitromors). The registration number was removed with dichlormethane (Nitromors) and repainted on the side of the object in acrylic paint.
