Description: Cotton swabs of distilled water, Acetone (propan-1-one/dimethyl ketone) and Industrial methylated spirits (ethanol,methanol) were used to try to remove the tarnish from the surface. Some of the tarnish was removed in this way but the majority was not. Cotton swabs of Goddards Hotel Silver Dip were used to remove the surface tarnish (In fume cupboard). The object was then rinsed thoroughly for at least 10 minutes in running tap water to remove any silver dip residues. The object was dried thoroughly with kleenex tissue to remove water through capiliiary action. The object was then additionally dried using the hot air blower.
