Description
The anklet was briefly soaked in IMS to soften the plaster enabling the pieces to be taken apart. The sections containing plaster were soaked in hot water containing 0.5%Synperonic N (non ionic detergent, nonylphenol ethylene oxide condensate), then the softened plaster was removed with a scalpel. The chemicals from the treatment were removed by intensive washing in changes of a constant volume of distilled water; heated to just below boiling point and allowed to cool between changes. 5 changes. The object was dried through several changes of IMS. They were repaired with HMG heatproof and waterproof adhesive (cellulose nitrate). The larger cracks and gaps were filled and reinforced with HMG heatproof and waterproof adhesive (cellulose nitrate) and nylon gossamar. Metal surface brushed with bristle brush. One segment is of thicker metal and belongs to another anklet. Pieces not to be joined together.
