Treatment; 14 Nov 2003; Remove deteriorated and unsightly tape and replace with archival quality tape.Lay down lifting areas of papyrus.; Western Art on Paper

Reason: Storage
Description: Opened mount and discarded UV perspex which is not reusable because the PVC tape adhesive cannot be removed. The lifting areas of the papyrus were laid down with wheat starch. One small area was turned over on itself and this was laid back. This small area appears darker as the papyrus was not bleached. Generally the material is extremely weak because of photodeterioration.
