Celestine Enderly 6.11.92 Req. 49487 - "Old lacquer removed by brushing with acetone. Remaining patches removed with swabs of acetone. Residues removed with swabs of IMS. Tarnish removed with Goddards Silver Dip. Rinsed with swabs of distilled water. Dried with paper tissues. Surface wiped with a Goddards Long Term Silver Cloth. Degreased with swabs of Frigilene reducer. Lacquered by brushing with Frigilene. Air dried." P. Meehan May 2003 Req 81070 - Steam cleaned to remove remains of lacquer and old cleaning materials. Lacquer came off in many layers like onion skins! Or maybe more like cellaphane. Immense amount of black filth and layers of laquer removed from detail and much more gilding revealed than was previously discernible.Polished using Goddards long term silver cloth. Brushed with a soft natural bristle brush. PMP
