Description
The split in the wood was repaired with HMG heatproof and waterproof adhesive (cellulose nitrate). To support the repair further, a small twist of Japanese tissue, coloured to match the objet with acrylic paints, was packed into a gap in the side of the joint and soaked with 20% Paraloid B72 (ethyl methacrylate copolymer) in IMS and acetone. The two parts of the spoon were tied together with linen tape to prevent them from separating and banging together during storage or transit.
