Treatment; 30 Jan 2003; Dismantle. Clean off old adhesive. Rebond all fragments.; Ceramics & Glass

Reason: Storage
Description: Cleaned by completely immersing in tap water and left to soak for 24 hours to break down old adhesive. then briefly soaked and rinsed in distilled water. Cleaned by completely immersing in a solution of Ariel automatic (anionic and non ionic synthetic surfactants,sodium tripolyphosphate) and tap water and left to soak for .... days. Rinsed by soaking in tap water. Dried immediately with Kleenex tissue. Left to dry thoroughly. Reconstructed dry, securing with cellotape. For smaller joins, reconstructed with Paraloid B72 (ethyl methacrylate copolymer) 50% in acetone applied to the break edges with a brush. Joins supported with cellotape during curing.Ciba Geigy XW396 (epoxy) 100 parts to 32 parts Ciba Geigy XW397 (epoxy) applied to joins drawn in by capillary action. Excess removed with acetone on a cotton wool swab on a satay stick and a scalpel blade.
