Treatment; 21 May 2001; Remove metal grid plaster reinforcement. Remove plaster residue. Re-affix make uyp to top left corner and support.; Stone, Wall Paintings, Mosaics

Reason: Permanent Exhibition
Description: The metal reinforccment was removed along with the plaster residue in that area - this was done mechanically. The edges were cleaned as far as possible and the remaining plaster residue was retouched with Rowney's Cryla colours (acrylic). The plaster on the surface was removed with a stencil brush and a cotton wool swab and saliva. The make up was readhered with HMG Paraloid B72 (methyl ethyl methacrlylate) Fibre glass tissue was adhered to the reverse of the make up corner and to the top of the panel with Paraloid B72 (ethyl methacrylate copolymer) at 20% in Acetone (propan-1-one/dimethyl ketone)/Industrial methylated spirits (ethanol,methanol) 50 - 50. A mix of Polyfilla interior (calcium sulphate hydrate,cellulose ether) as dry powder with deionised water and Primal AC33 (acrylic).This was allowed to `go off' overnight between applications. It formed a good reinforcment that finished well once dried. Cracks on the front of the make up were filled with Microballoons (silica or phenolic resin) in Paraloid B72 (ethyl methacrylate copolymer) @ 20% in Acetone (propan-1-one/dimethyl ketone)/Industrial methylated spirits (ethanol,methanol) 50/50. this was retouchd ith Rowney's Cryla colours (acrylic).
