Treatment; 16 Mar 1999; Remove excess adhesive. Clean. Fix back fragments.; Organics

Reason: Storage
Description: Cleaned with cotton wool buds of acetone. This removed dirt and excess shiny surface consolidant. Loose fragment was removed by softening old adhesive with acetone. Removed excess old adhesive with acetone. Joined fragments with HMG heatproof and waterproof adhesive (cellulose nitrate). Filled where necessary for support with 10% Paraloid B72 (ethyl methacrylate copolymer) in 50/50 acetone/Industrial methylated spirits (ethanol,methanol) and glass microballoons. Toned in with acrylic medium and dry pigments. The position of the loose fragment could not clearly be located and so it was not joined.
