Treatment; 21 Dec 1998; Lift. Remove verso debris. Repair tears. Inlay and mount Royal permanent. Retouch scratches and tears.; Western Art on Paper

Reason: Temporary Exhibition
Description: Lifted by slitting guards with a scalpel. Debris removed using a poultice of Culminal (nonionic cellulose ether). Adhesive residue removed with cotton wool swabs dampened with warm water. Humidified over capillary matting and Gore-Tex in a chamber. Pressed. Tears repaired with Japanese tissue and Abra starch (wheat starch) adhesive. Scratches toned with Winsor and Newton artist's watercolours (organic,inorganic pigments,gum arabic). Inlaid to Purcell inlay paper with strips of Ino Shi Japanese tissue and Culminal (nonionic cellulose ether) adhesive. Pressed.
