Reason: Mounting; Permanent Exhibition
Description: Consolidated nose bridge and other areas on the front of drapery with Paraloid B72 (ethyl methacrylate copolymer) 2.5% in Industrial methylated spirits (ethanol,methanol):Acetone (propan-1-one/dimethyl ketone). Re-adhered the three paint flakes with Vinamul 3252 (vinyl acetate,ethylene copolymer). Applied 2 facings one on either side at elbow level with Paraloid B72 (ethyl methacrylate copolymer) 10% in Industrial methylated spirits (ethanol,methanol):Acetone (propan-1-one/dimethyl ketone) and Japanese tissue to protect the statue from the slings necessary for measurement for the mount. Wick system placed on base of figure of muslin with squares of Paraloid B72 (ethyl methacrylate copolymer) 20% in Industrial methylated spirits (ethanol,methanol):Acetone (propan-1-one/dimethyl ketone). Channels along the lines of the squares to allow for flooding with acetone should it be necessary to remove it later. The mount was made from polyester resin and painted with acrylics. This was adhered to the wick with Paraloid B72 (ethyl methacrylate copolymer) 20% in Industrial methylated spirits (ethanol,methanol):Acetone (propan-1-one/dimethyl ketone). The mount was adhered to the base with Sebralit resin (polyester) and the dowels were adhered into the stone base with Sebralit resin (polyester) also.
